Media Mart is a distinctive concept which was envisaged by India Today Group under Transit Retail which was growing in popularity in late 2000's. The concept was not new but a first for Delhi metro which in itself was a nascent concept then.
Media Mart came into existence with a vision of becoming the largest chain of stores offering magazines, books, music and stationery to customers travelling through Delhi Metro which was growing as a preferred means of commuting among people.
Media Mart, started operations in New Delhi in 2006 with its first store at Kashmere Gate plaza metro station which is one of the busiest transit point.
With growing metro commuter, Media Mart saw huge footfalls leading to opening of 21 stores in a span of 6 months making it the largest non food retail chain at Delhi Metro.
The popularity and success of the concept saw Media Mart explore other travel points like airports. Media Mart opened its first outlet at Mumbai Domestic Airport in May 2008
With its impeccable products and services, Media Mart soon became a destination of choice for airport travelers and opened retail outlets in Delhi International and Domestic Terminal, Chennai Domestic Terminal.
Media Mart has been instrumental in pioneering organized retail bookstores in India. To serve passengers with their additional needs, Media Mart added categories like Travel, Gifts, Confectionery, Toys and Board games.
Exploring new opportunities has always been a forte of Media Mart, in this direction Media Mart is expanding its base through Shop-in Shop alliances with major retail chains like Easy day, Spencer's, Food World etc in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore.
Media Mart currently operate 31 stores and plan to add 30 more stores through various formats in the next six months. Media Mart envisions of becoming the preferred retail chain and we look forward to untapped opportunities in the form of corporate parks, premium hospitals and schools as a part of our growth strategy.
